Dave Ezzy has spent a lot of time evolving his flagship wavesail, the Wave Panther, and he has addressed some specific design issues which have changed the sail's handling and feel. He has reduced the overall "pulling weight" of the slWave Panther. He has adjusted the seam-shape (camber) and planshape of the sail to make it feel lighter in the hands and more manoeverable whilst keeping it's famous stability and bottom-end power. The sail also has more pop in transitions and early planing.
The Technora leech panel not only makes the Wave Panther lighter and more forgiving, it is also more tear resistant than normal X-ply.
You will notice when you are rigging the sail that there is less visible loose-leech and the sail generally requires a lot less downhaul than previous Ezzys.
Ezzy has launched another wavesail called the Freewave which has an identical panel layout to the Ezzy Wave Panther. The main difference is that the sail is missing the Technora leech panel and has no batten seam shaping (camber). This makes the Freewave ideal for freestylers and wavesailors who prefer a more neutral-feeling sail.
If you check out the Ezzy rigging guides these will give you an excellent initial understanding of how to rig the sail. When you buy the sail, you can come and collect it from our beach centre where we will show you how to rig the sail and give you some tuning tips.
The sails rig best on Ezzy Skinny Masts. These you can buy either complete or in separate halves. The masts halves may be mixed and match to give each sail a mast with the correct stiffness. The reason you need this is if you use a sail with the incorrect mast length and stiffness, you considerably reduce its wind range and useability. Ezzys work well on regular diameter masts but again, it is important to use the correct length and stiffness. For advice on which mast(s) to use for your quiver, please check out the Ezzy Mast selector.
