THE DEFINITION OF A MODERN WAVE BOARD

Over the years we have encouraged everybody to get into bigger board sizes. This new line is our response to the very demand we have pioneered. Fresh tail shapes evolve through the line, starting with smaller Crescent tails, growing in width into the middle of the range and turning into Squash tails for
the two big shapes.

Standing only 6” from the tail creates a geometry that allows you to ride the Custom like a surfboard. Shorter outlines, straighter stance rails and narrower tails define the dynamic of these sticks. Concaves run throughout the bottom in ever changing geometry, allowing you to accelerate toward the pocket with no resistence.

All That Power

And how to rule it.

All new shapes will blow you away with speed, while Crescent and Squash tails allow for unparalleled turns packed with torque. A back foot just six inches from the tail allows you to rule all that power.

Prized

WAVE WORLD CHAMPIONS RIDE IT. AND YOU.

When Marcilio Browne and Francisco Goya claimed their PWA Wave World Championships, the board shapes they were riding had been developed both for them and by them. Each of them played a major role in their engineering. This current wave board range is no different. Their personal style and athletic talent is directly reflected in these boards, the same boards that you and so many others are now choosing to ride.

The forgiving yet radical nature of these boards is the secret to making them so special. They are not just about launching into big jumps and extreme wave maneuvers, their design also allows you to land with elegance and style. The same style that Francisco and Marcilio have made famous.

  1. :

I have the 86 and 96 2016 boards and can happily say that these are the best waveboards I have ever owned.

    I weigh 84Kg and use the 86 from 3.7 – 4.7 and the 96 with 4.7/5.3 or when it’s gusty.

Over the 2015 boards, it feels like everything has moved back quite a lot – especially the back strap which is very near the tail.

For jumping, the boards go very fast and feel very secure and controllable underfoot, translating into nice big airs. Their short lengths make them work well in rotations too.

Riding is where they truly excel. I have now used them in anything from bolt onshore mush to side-off logo-high. The bottom turn actually takes a little while to get used to, the boards favour a slightly more back-footed turn, but once you have this dialed, you can pretty much pivot around the bottom turn without losing any speed at all (ideal when the waves are smaller). In bigger waves, you can still hold a rail very well, even when maxed with a lot of chop on the face. Top turns are simply a dream, the tail seems to do whatever you want it to – gouge and throw spray or a nicely controlled slide.

I struggle to think of what can be improved. Get down the beach and try one!

Before I bought my 2016 Goya Custom Quad 80 I very nearly bought a second hand Fanatic 2011 New wave 76, that’s where my mindset was after the last few years of board design just hadn’t lit my fire!

In my view, the Goya 80 has all the benefits of a quad in terms of control, grip, turning radius but now feels more gunny, fast and exciting. I tried the 80 initially on a 4.2 cross on day at Joliffe with nice waves, the moment I left the beach it felt exciting, it was definitely good conditions though so before I committed, I was lucky that the wind rolled in the following day and I sailed West Witt, bolt onshore on a 4.7. A big part of me, despite the great sail the day before, expected to be disappointed in its acceleration in on shore but absolutely not, I loved it and decided to buy the board then and there! I have since used the board a lot over the winter in all types of conditions and have zero complaints, it is truly an all-round wave board which I think is a ‘light bulb moment’ for the designers, all the R&D over the last few years has paid off big time. I also tried the 86 and 96 in Tenerife, if I could, I would buy them as well! If you haven’t tried it…..definitely do!
