2025 Ezzy Sails Range Review

The new Ezzy windsurfing sails for the 2025 season are an evolution of the previous lineup, one thing we know about Ezzy, having sold them for nearly 30 years, is that it is always an evolution not a revolution. Ezzy spend a lot of time making minor tweaks to their sails to maximise the performance enhancements from each one.

According to Dave Ezzy himself, the Ezzy Wave 2025 represents his 42 years of designing wave sails.

Ezzy Wave

The Ezzy Wave has had some small adjustments to the outline in the 2.8m-4.0m sizes and the 4.2m and upwards have had slight modifications to the head. There are new materials and colours for 2025. At 2XS – West Wittering we have Ezzy Waves to demo, book a test ride at our centre by contacting 01243 513077 or email us on tuition@2xs.co.uk.

Don’t forget the Ezzy Wave sails you be ordered in custom colour options, these have a slightly longer lead and delivery time as they are specially made in the Ezzy Factory. If you are interested in a custom order, please contact us directly, where we can submit your colour requests and get these confirmed with the factory and for your approval before being made. The custom colour-ways cost an additional £40 to the RRP price on the Ezzy Wave. For custom enquiries: 01243 512552 or sales@2xs.co.uk.

Ezzy Zeta

The Zeta has had an upgrade to the leach panels, with a lighter weight scrim. It has got a new look and colour. It is a really popular wave and blasting sail, with this seasons model feeling even lighter thanks to the newly improved materials used.

Ezzy Taka

The Taka delivers new colours and minor tweaks to continue to evolve the reference down the line wave sail from Dave Ezzy.

Ezzy Cheetah & Lion

The Cheetah and Lion will remain unchanged for the 2025 season, but are available in new colours.

“Ezzy sails don’t change for the sake of change!”

  • Like the Ezzy Wave, the Cheetah is much lighter than its predecessors. Each sail weighs about 230 grams less. This weight reduction comes largely from a new window material that also makes the Cheetah faster and with a better high-end handling.

As you know, the Cheetah is designed and refined for high performance but still is easy to rig and sail. It is precisely this balance of performance and comfort that people love.

  • A new solid-color look with the same great performance as the previous model. Larger window for better visibility.
    Should you choose the Taka?

For 95% of windsurfers looking for a new sail, the Ezzy Wave is the way to go. But, for the windsurfer who wants extreme de-powering and radical manoeuvrability, the Taka is the go-to choice.

  • What’s new?

    1) Refined luff curve to make the draft/power/pull the same across every size.

    2) The battens are slightly pulled back from the luff. This is very subtle, so you probably will not notice it when you first look at the sail. The effect is that the sail depowers and flips more easily—a subtle difference but with a big upside that you can really feel.

    3) The biggest visual change is in the outline on the smaller sails. The 4.0 and down have an extended clew. This gives the smaller sails more of a longer boom feel. The biggest advantages are: a) better stability, which is really noticeable for jumping and b) you don’t need super short booms for the smaller sizes.

    4) All sizes have a bigger window for more visibility. You’ll be surprised how much this matters!

    5) The bigger sizes have a more direct power delivery and get going faster when the wind is light.

  • Ezzy’s revised Zeta sail – the Power Wave sail which is Graham Ezzy’s sail or choice when competing in wave comps.

The 5 batten configuration enables this sail to remain stable and supportive in the gnarliest of conditions. The Zeta is true testament of great a windsurf sail.

  • Built to go fast and made to last, the Lion is Ezzy’s Power-Freeride sail.

Unlike many wide-sleeved, cambered sails on the market, the Lion’s sleeve is just narrow enough to make waterstarting and uphauling easy. Ezzy replaced the vinyl with a dyneema-reinforced window that increases stability in high winds and dramatically improves the transfer of wind energy into board speed. You can remove either the top or bottom cam to create a single-cam, freeride experience. And even use the Lion without the cams—the flatter shape of the Lion without cams works great for learning to foil.
