We are pretty stoked that Holly has become the British SUP champion in waves for the 3rd time at Surf England Nationals held at Fistral Beach in 2023. This means she will be in Team England for the Eurosup in Peniche, Portugal, from 14th to 21st October, and then the ISA SUP Worlds in Les Sables d’Olonne, France, from 24th September to 1st October this year. The 2023 Surfing England National SUP Surf Championships were held at Fistral, Newquay, on June 17th. After a long flat spell across the UK, there were some great waves for the contest, allowing the UK’s best to compete.
Both the men and women put on a great display, showcasing how SUP surfing is evolving in the UK and how the standard is continually increasing.
2XS Team Rider, Holly Bassett, became the 2023 Women’s National Champion once more, marking her 3rd National title. Aaron Rowe took the win for the Men’s division, also claiming his 3rd National Title.
Holly said: “It was great to surf with such a great crowd, and good to see so many from previous events. I’m super happy to take the win this weekend, having only been on the water once this year. I am looking forward to dedicating some time to training for the ISA World SUP Championships and the European Championships later this year. It’s good to be on the water doing what I love. Thanks to Surfing England and Tina Beresford for putting on a great event.”
