55% Stiffer than an Aluminium mast

The big development in the new Ultra HM Pro carbon mast is its new construction from military grade carbon so it is stiffer than the current HM mast but the big difference is its shape.  The mast has been refined in its profile as the mast nears the join to the fuse the profile which generally sits under water is now a thinner and narrower chord (12.5mm reduction in chord size) and this results in a 20% less drag over the current HM mast.

The centre of effort on the new profile has been moved further back from the leading edge – this in turn improves the turnability of the mast and so you have a mast that is not only stiffer it is faster and more manouverable.

Yes, this is a “big bucks” product and we would much rather see military grade carbon in foils than in missiles……
