Sunday March 10th was a serious heavy weather day with 60 knot westerly winds that moderated later to 45-55. Two UK kite legends (5 x World champion Aaron Hadlow and Lewis Cratherne aka ‘the man who jumped Brighton Pier) put on a world class level of kitesurfing at West Wittering beach whilst beach users and walkers stood and watched in amazement.
The kite control in the heavy duty gusts was very impressive, and the jumping/airtime was off the scale. You can see why both these guys are professional kiters! Both Aaron and Lewis are riding Duotone 8m Vegas kites with wake style bindings rather than straps.
We had quite a few windsurfers also out there battling the storm: windsurfing supremo Nik Baker, 2XS Club guys (Sandy Clunas, Andy Richardson, Grahame Petit, Nick Harford, Hal Miller and Richard Hyper on 3.7m and 3.3m sails). All were making the most of the surf and big winds.
