For 2014 we have a Kitesurfing Instructor Training course on at X-Train, West Wittering – the course starts on Monday 2nd June for five days finishing Friday 6 June.  Cost for the 5 day course is £449.

General
All kitesurf Instructor Training Courses (ITC’s) are run in conjunction with the British Kitesurfing Association (BKSA) and are open to all kitesurfers of a suitable standard of riding proficiency / experience. (Details of this are attached).
The aims have been to produce one recognised instructor training route for kitesurfing in the UK, to standardize the level of this training, to link BKSA training to a world based standard and replace all current licenses with one recognised license only.
The BKSA ITC has been modified to include extra areas of training for the UK. The syllabus forms the core of the course package with further areas that include foil training as well as single skin kites, further safety inputs and the legal and administrative requirements an instructor must be aware of when setting up their own school within the UK. The instructor training has been formulated to be either delivered on a modular bases, which means you may build up to your full qualification over a period of time and take into account prior experience and qualifications or by an intensive 5 day course which incorporates everything.

ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS

Riding proficiency / experience requirements are attached to this fact sheet by way of a questionnaire which must be completed and returned to the BKSA. Further to this all candidates must possess:
  • A valid RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate or above
  • A valid First Aid qualification
  • Valid BKSA membership
The BKSA can put you in touch with centers for training in both of the above – this training will usually be done preceding the start date of the ITC, and lasts for 3 days.

COURSE DURATION

This BKSA ITC usually runs from a Monday until Friday (5 days).
Once you have completed your level one Instructor course you will be issued with a course completion certificate on the reverse of which will be an individual action plan usually containing some shadow teaching hours to complete before becoming a fully recognized instructor.
After 150 hours of Teaching in a BKSA recognized school in no less than a 6-month period you can apply for you senior instructor course

SAM ROSS – Loop Rollover Course

SAM ROSS – Loop Rollover Course

1 Day (possible dates: 23rd or 24th July 2012) – £120

This clinic combines all the things you need to get those loops sorted, the right conditions, a like minded group of windsurfers and the coaching that can break this move down and make sure your skills and ambitions match.

We will spend the day, building skills, understanding how the move works and then putting into action.

If the loop is a move you have been pondering or dabbling with then this course will help you make the jump from “would like to loop” to “I am looping”.

As long as you are already sailing a board around 100ltrs in coastal conditions and can jump then those are the only skills you need. ..

Rippers Camp round up

The last weekend in October we had our Rippers Freestyle Wave Camp, hosted at West Wittering Windsurfing Club with Sam Ross and Rossco Moore.

The weekend kicked off early Saturday morning and the concept is a mixture of fitness, freestyle technique and wave sailing technique. Sam Ross who is one of the most energetic instructors in the UK delivered the course with Rossco from X-train.

The group was warmed up then did dry land drills and then spent the rest of the time out on the water as the wind picked up and the tide changed developing new skills to take their windsurfing to the next level.

On the second day of the course, Julian Du Vall and Trevor Funnell from the UKWA came over and explained how Freestyle Comps worked, judging, about starts and competition zones and held a “mini comp” on Sunday afternoon in pretty light and difficult conditions.

Jamie Drummond, Adam Sims were on hand over the weekend inspiring the new crew with reasons why you should take up windsurfing to a higher level. James Randall also helped with the judging at the mini event.

A big thanks to Chris Rainbow, James Randall, Rossco Moore, Sam Ross, Trevor Funnell and Julian Du Vall; also thanks to Ion, Seasprite and 2XS who gave us some goodies to hand out.

Next years date: 27/28 October 2012 – if you like what you see, get yourself booked on!!!! Contact: Simon@2xs.co.uk

Holly Bassett has put together this video which really sums up the action and fun we had over the weekend.
